Warsong Gulch - WoW Trial: Day 10

I'll admit, I was skeptical at first. My first 2 games of Alliance vs. Horde capture the flag in Warsong Gulch went poorly for my side (the Alliance). And yet, in that third game, everything changed when I did something I never expected.

I captured the flag.

Now, to be fair, I didn't get back to my base with the flag... that time. But I did eventually. And that little rush that accompanied my finally bringing in that first flag, well, that was enough to keep me playing for 5 or 6 more games. All of which were won by the Alliance, I might add.

I think part of the fun of this for me was that it reminded me of real life capture the flag games, played largely at Boy Scout campouts, where instead of trying to slay the enemy flag bearer from afar with magic we would simply chase down one of our fellow Scouts, tackle him to the ground, and cart him back to our campsite as a prisoner. Ah, those were the days.

In any event, I played like a noob, I was killed over and over, and but by the end of the night, I had some basic strategies down and I was loving every minute of it. How fitting an end for my time in WoW.

(FYI, tomorrow I'll post a brief conclusion to this strange little series. For now, I need to rest my eyes and fingers.)
